The advantages of the industrialized factory approach

Optimized business continuity

The downtime was reduced to a minimum thanks to the table-based migration – further potential for optimization is being jointly explored.

Cost reduction

Selective history migration to reduce the data volume and lower cloud operating costs.

Reusability

The standardized transformation approach allows all migration objects and rules to be reused and ensures process synergies and data quality.

Realizing project synergies

By combining several initiatives into one project (cloud move, master data harmonization, New GL with document split, introduction of business partners, etc.), synergies can be achieved in many project activities, such as a significant reduction in testing effort.

Flagship for industrialized data transformation

SNP is currently creating a flagship for industrialized data transformation in partnership with E.ON, one of Europe’s largest operators of energy networks and infrastructure and a provider of innovative customer solutions for some 48 million customers.

The transformation of existing SAP systems to the new SAP S/4HANA suite is a company-wide project involving more than 550 E.ON companies in Germany and Europe, which will be migrated to the new S/4 platform by the beginning of 2027. Over a period of three years, more than 150 companies have been successfully migrated in the first completed waves.

The direct move to the Azure cloud took place at the same time as the S/4 migration. This eliminated the need for additional projects with the associated testing effort and downtimes.

SNP is supporting the demanding, complex migration with a repetitive transformation approach, which makes it possible to achieve a faster project implementation and to get more companies per go-live up and running by simplifying and reusing the data transformation.

Setting up a data migration factory

E.ON had already opted for software and consulting from SNP in the past in order to merge or split SAP systems as part of separating E.ON into Uniper and E.ON 2016.

The establishment of a data migration factory in combination with the permanent use of the software platform is successfully driving this approach and enabling the use of both E.ON’s own resources to build up transformation expertise within the organization and, if necessary, for potential additional implementation partners.

A good example of the efficiency and speed of the SNP transformation approach is the migration of the first nine companies in just five months by the end of 2020.

To date, more than 150 E.ON companies have been gradually migrated to S/4HANA in up to seven parallel rollout clusters. Throughout these transformations, SNP has continuously optimized the process, rule base and validation to achieve the highest degree of standardization possible.

The direct move to the Azure cloud took place at the same time as the S/4 migration. This eliminated the need for additional projects with the associated testing effort and downtimes.

We have already had many years of very positive experiences with SNP and their transformation software, and we are building on this expertise once again. Above all, standardization based on SNP’s CrystalBridge software is the key to a secure and efficient transition to the world of S/4HANA.
