Merge Enables New Business Structure

Fujitsu

“With this internal project, we were able to leverage the performance of the SNP software as well as the joint collaboration during ‘real’ day-to-day operational business. Together with SNP, we were able to implement the project successfully and within the planned time frame. The excellent teamwork has confirmed our very positive experiences from previous joint customer projects!” Marcos Sanchez Urstadt, Head of SAP Consulting & Services DACH, Fujitsu Services GmbH

The Challenge

Fujitsu planned to simplify its business structures in Germany in order to further strengthen its competitiveness as a digital transformation company. Two Fujitsu companies with different company codes and SAP systems had to be merged into one new company. The SAP ERP source systems differed in terms of modules (traditional profit center accounting, use of business units), accounting standards (IFRS, HGB), charts of accounts and business processes.

However, the challenge of the project was not only to merge and transform a new company based on different and separate sources (company codes and standalone systems). The project team also needed to migrate customer contracts, financial information and different business processes to one company within the region’s central SAP system –and in a very short time frame of only five months. An agile and disruptive project approach proved to be the right choice, additionally supported by the SNP BLUEFIELD™ methodology.

The Advantages

  • Fast, effective migration in a very short period of time and with a very low number of test cycles

  • Goal-oriented collaboration between SNP and Fujitsu

  • Very short downtime, multiple locations, fully remote

  • Flexibility without compromising system availability

The Solution

Depending on the particular migration object, different migration approaches were used. In addition to a manual approach and the use of LSMW for low-volume objects, CrystalBridge® was chosen as the migration solution in order to post documents via BAPI and migrate recurring documents and purchase orders to the database quickly and directly. Very close communication and collaboration between the SNP team and the Fujitsu migration team was a key success factor throughout the project.

Thanks to CrystalBridge®, it was also possible to migrate all the objects in one go, even with a new company code assignment. This provided the opportunity to validate all the results simultaneously and effectively.
