LITEFSNP’s Kyano delivers secure transformation at LITEF with minimal business disruption
Northrop Grumman LITEF GmbH is a leading company in the development and manufacture of navigation and sensor systems. Founded in 1961 and based in Freiburg im Breisgau, the company’s product range includes sensors, inertial measurement units, heading and attitude reference systems, inertial navigation systems, and inertial reference systems. When it came to transforming the company’s SAP GTS 11 foreign trade system, SNP was chosen due to its extensive expertise. At the same time, SNP’s partner All for One managed the upgrade from SAP ERP and SAP HCM to SAP S/4HANA.
Project overview
The company had been relying on its existing SAP landscape for many years: SAP ERP and SAP HCM for central processes and SAP GTS 11 for global trade management.
SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS) is a business-critical component that helps international companies to navigate complex customs, regulations, and global supply chains. It automates all customs, compliance, and Intrastat processes in accordance with the latest regulations in many different countries, ensuring smooth business processes. The successful transformation of this system was therefore crucial for LITEF.
In modernizing both clients, LITEF wanted partners who were jointly responsible for the entire transformation. The company chose SNP to upgrade the system from SAP GTS 11 to SAP GTS E4H due to SNP’s many years of SAP expertise and experience with GTS foreign trade systems.
Following the go-live, LITEF can now leverage a consolidated SAP system with two state-of-the-art clients: SAP GTS E4H and SAP S/4HANA.
The high-tech company now has a secure digital platform to support further growth and innovation – a major asset for both current projects and future challenges.
Our partnership with All for One
All for One is a leading international IT consulting and service provider with a focus on SAP. In partnership with SNP, the company implements SAP S/4HANA transformations based on the Bluefield approach quickly, securely, and with minimal downtime. Customers benefit from All for One’s supply chain expertise in the automated mapping of international foreign trade and customs processes in line with legal regulations, for example using SAP GTS E4H.
The solution
SNP and All for One were faced with the task of modernizing LITEF’s SAP landscape – comprising two business-critical clients – while minimizing the impact on ongoing business processes.
During the selective data migration of the existing SAP ERP landscape to SAP S/4HANA, special attention was given to migrating the foreign trade system from SAP GTS 11 to SAP GTS E4H. All master and transaction data for customs, compliance, and Intrastat was migrated with almost no changes – based on the same transformation software and rules.
The result
The result was maximum data integrity, minimum downtime, and stable business operations throughout the project without any significant disruptions.
The project did not require additional software updates, system updates, client copies, or client deletions, providing a clear advantage in terms of project duration and costs.
SNP leveraged its powerful Kyano platform to complete the project. It empowers companies to migrate data with minimal risk and downtime while meeting the requirements of even strictly regulated and security-critical industries.
Following the go-live, LITEF now has a consolidated, modernized SAP system with two future-proof clients, making the organization perfectly equipped to tackle future requirements and projects going forward.
