Challenges and objectives

Farmácias São João faced the complex task of switching from SAP ECC 6.0 EhP8 to SAP S/4HANA 2023. The challenge was to migrate their 9 TB database while ensuring uninterrupted business operations around the clock. The project had to be implemented within a tight time window, with limited project resources, and in parallel with several other IT initiatives, which increased the complexity of managing the environments and testing activities. The company also set a maximum downtime of 70 hours, with data integrity remaining a priority throughout the migration.

The project focused on reducing the data volume for the migration to the latest SAP version, optimizing the database, and lowering infrastructure and operating costs. Additional requirements included preserving the existing business processes, ensuring a smooth transition to the new platform, and laying the foundation for more efficient operations in the long term.

The solution

Farmácias São João transformed their SAP environment into SAP S/4HANA 2023, including the key modules FI, CO, RE, FM, MM, SD, PP, and IS-Retail. The project involved the migration of around 9 TB of data and aimed to optimize the data volume transferred to the new platform. Precise planning limited the downtime to 70 hours while business operations continued.

The SNP software Kyano Move was used for the selective migration. The project was implemented without compromising data consistency, business continuity, or existing business processes.

The result was a more efficient SAP environment that supports future technological innovation.
