El Rosado successfully completes migration journey to SAP S/4HANA

El Rosado

The Challenge

With this project, El Rosado sought to innovate in the delivery of its service, improving the experience of its customers and ensuring excellence in management through best practices. It consisted of a migration of the ECC system to SAP S/4HANA 1909 in HEC that would guarantee a downtime that would not affect the operation of the corporation's 25 companies, with more than 3,000 points of sale integrated into the SAP S/4HANA ecosystem prior to the high season date.Integrating more than 200 interfaces and centralizing the processes managed by different systems in all the group's companies was one of the great challenges of the project. The foundations were laid for intelligent business management, ensuring performance, system availability and online information retrieval.

The Solution and Benefits

To achieve the objectives of the digital transformation in the supply chain, it was necessary to migrate a large volume of data in the stipulated downtime. This situation did not allow the use of traditional strategies; instead, a different plan was implemented: the data was divided into "hot" and "cold" data, which was moved at different times during the project.

The historical data that could be transferred in instances prior to the go-live was called "cold data". The information that is used to perform operations in the company, such as purchase orders, accounting processes, etc., and that had to be migrated during the go-live because of open processes, was classified as "hot data". This conversion process was what allowed the downtime to be met and was executed 100 percent by CrystalBridge’s conversion tools.

This migration included the selection of data from the current year and two years of the  corporation's history with a database size of approximately 17 TB. Regarding El Rosado's own developments, the code remediation recommended by SAP was carried out, as well as the extension or optimization of those programs or interfaces that required adaptation.

El Rosado already had the human capital solution, SuccessFactors, which had to be successfully  connected to the new version of SAP ERP. In relation to the SAP modules, it was essential to enable TM and EWM and to make the Fiori functions defined in the scope operational in order to provide flexibility in the use of the application.

  • Selective data migration approach, Bluefield™, enabled the company's objectives to be achieved in the proposed downtime.
  • More than 3,000 points of sale integrated into the SAP S/4HANA ecosystem.
  • Integration of all stages of business management, operation and control.
  • The migration to SAP S/4HANA allowed the necessary scalability for the different functions, benefiting the business areas (financial, logistics, commercial, etc.).
