Enormous 15-hour migration to SAP S/4HANA®

Coop commissioned SNP to migrate the two ECC SAP systems CCR and CTC to S/4. The two systems consist of a 56 TB retail system (CCR) and an 8 TB trading system (CTC). These systems are extremely important for Coop and both are business-critical, as 50 percent of sales are processed through them. However, both systems had already been running for many years: one for 20 years, the other for 12 years. They needed to be migrated to S/4 at the same time, using the NZD approach (Near-Zero Downtime) for the large CCR retail system. This approach was crucial because the downtime for both systems was limited to 18 hours only.

Carve-out, S/4 migration and cloud move in a single step at BSW Timber

Following the sale of the Building and Supply Solutions division of SCA Wood UK, there was a requirement to carve-out the divested entities and associated data from SCA’s global SAP ECC system into a new dedicated SAP system for BSW on Azure Cloud. Due to the tight timelines associated with the transitional service agreement (TSA), the initial requirement was to provide BSW with a 1:1 carve-out from ECC to ECC followed by a later project to perform a Brownfield upgrade to S/4HANA post-divestment. During the early stages of the project, BSW expressed concerns about having multiple business downtimes and disruptions for the carve-out and Brownfield projects respectively. As a result, and on the recommendation of SNP, the project evolved into a BLUEFIELD® carve-out to S/4HANA, which enables the carve-out, migration to S/4HANA and move to the cloud all combined in a single project with one set of testing and a single go-live.

Jenoptik secures added value by successfully migrating to SAP S/4HANA®

By converting its existing SAP R/3 system PJA to SAP S/4HANA, Jenoptik aimed to harmonizeprocesses, master data and reporting. The goal of the project was to provide optimal support for theglobal business and facilitate future leaps in innovation.The R/3 system, which had grown over the years and contained 30 plants, 40 company codes, andaround 20 sales and 10 purchasing organizations, needed to be completely migrated and thenarchived. Among other things, this involved a plant split and merge within a company code across allapplications and including the full history.To implement the organizational changes and planned innovations as quickly as possible, the firststep was to securely switch to an SAP S/4 system with the most important functions. This is to befollowed by an innovation phase in which further useful S/4 functions will be introduced

On the fast track towards SAP S/4HANA

The Kiel Group wanted to perform a minimally invasive upgrade of their ERP system SAP R/3 to the new platform SAP S/4HANA. The entire history had to be migrated, and only necessary adjustments were to be made to the system. Nonetheless, business partners and the New General Ledger (New GL) had to be introduced. Kiel is planning further technical and process optimizations for the time after the S/4HANA project. The time frame was of particular importance: The 1:1 migration of several hundred million data records had to take place within 16 weeks from project start to go-live.

Merge enables New business structure at Fujitsu in Germany

Fujitsu planned to simplify its business structures in Germany in order to further strengthen its competitiveness as a digital transformation company. Two Fujitsu companies with different company codes and SAP systems had to be merged into one new company. The SAP ERP source systems differed in terms of modules (traditional profit center accounting, use of business units), accounting standards (IFRS, HGB), charts of accounts and business processes.However, the challenge of the project was not only to merge and transform a new company based on different and separate sources (company codes and standalone systems). The project team also needed to migrate customer contracts, financial information and different business processes to one company within the region’s central SAP system –and in a very short time frame of only five months. An agile and disruptive project approach proved to be the right choice, additionally supported by the SNP BLUEFIELD® methodology.

Migration of 20 years of history with SNP and IBM

The switch to S/4HANA is part of Colombina's strategy as part of its digital transformation process. The company intends to use it to accelerate initiatives in the areas of marketing, sales, trade and procurement that require the introduction of new technologies. Colombina's S/4HANA project - originally led by SNP partner IBM - initially started as a classic brownfield migration. Performance tests were carried out to determine the approximate downtime. However, the result was unacceptable to Colombina because of the associated economic losses. Finally, IBM proposed the SNP service and BLUEFIELD® approach, but with a specific requirement: to preserve all source information (20 TB at that time) and complete the project with less than 48 hours of downtime.

Software-supported logistics lead to more sales: SNP migrates Steiff to S/4HANA

Sales of Steiff’s children’s clothing and plush toys are largely characterized by seasonal business and campaigns. For example, more goods are sold at Easter and Christmas. In the fashion industry, sales fluctuate depending on the season and new collections. It is therefore particularly important to ensure that supply is tailored to the demand and the target group, so that goods are available when they are needed. After all, out-of-stock goods lead to lost sales and frustration for customers both young and old. With this in mind, Steiff planned to introduce software-supported logistics with its own distribution centers to increase flexibility and ensure precise deliveries. For this purpose, the existing SAP ERP system needed to be migrated to SAP S/4HANA. In the new system, the SAP industry solution “IS Retail” also had to be activated in order to map master data in detail. A selective transfer was planned for the data from the previous system.
