Raízen, one of Brazil's largest energy companies, embarked on a critical transformation to Suite on HANA to modernize its IT landscape and improve operational efficiency. The transformation also maximized scalability and optimized the technology infrastructure, ensuring business continuity with minimal downtime.
The objective of the project was to upgrade Raízen's SAP ERP system through a selective data migration from SAP ECC 5.0 to SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 8 Suite on HANA, optimizing operational efficiency, ensuring scalability, and minimizing downtime.
As the lead partner, Accenture oversaw the project from start to finish, guiding Raízen through the complex transition. Given the complexity of the migration (managing a 14.5 TB database and minimizing downtime), Accenture brought in SNP as a strategic technology partner to support the data transformation and selective migration process.
Leveraging the Bluefield approach, SNP enabled a rapid, automated, and risk-minimized transition, ensuring data consistency and reducing the system downtime. Together, Accenture and SNP carried out the migration to lay the foundation for Raízen's continued innovation in the energy sector
After many years of collaboration on multiple successful sales activities and projects, SNP and Accenture signed a partnership agreement in 2021. The strategic partnership has the scope to deliver standardized SAP data transformation services across the entire project lifecycle in a shared service model to address the growing demands of S/4HANA and the move to the cloud. Accenture and SNP together build global transformation centers of excellence, where their consultants collaboratively develop competencies and deliver flexible, high-quality, fast and reliable SAP data transformation projects.
The project involved the selective migration of Raízen's Oracle/Linux-based SAP ECC 5.0 data system with a 14.5 TB database to SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 8 Suite on HANA, an advanced platform that promised optimized performance and expanded capabilities.
The decision to upgrade the ERP stemmed from the need to optimize processes and maximize profitability, all while maintaining Raízen's commitment to sustainability, security, and technological innovation. Through the Bluefield approach, analysis, simulation, and execution processes were carried out to upgrade the SAP system. The project faced significant challenges, such as handling the 14.5 TB database and the need to minimize the downtime – a critical priority to avoid operational disruptions. The solution developed maintained data consistency, respected existing processes, and allowed for a selective reduction of information based on dates and companies, meeting the company's specific requirements.
SNP and Accenture's experience in complex transformations, together with the automation and reliability of their tools, ensured an efficient execution. After an exhaustive analysis and iterative simulations, the final migration was completed without affecting critical operations, establishing a robust technological infrastructure prepared for future challenges.
