Dow Chemical needed to decommission their legacy system in order to reduce the TCO of the overall landscape. Due to Dow‘s legal requirements, the data within those systems must be kept for years to decades – in some cases up to 70 years. The landscape included more than 10 SAP R/2 and R/3 systems that were no longer used in production, resulting in high maintenance costs, hardware costs, and special skills required to run aged technology.
SNP’s solution Kyano Datafridge was chosen to decommission the legacy systems. The solution is designed to extract data from legacy systems and store it on an inexpensive storage that is future-proof and easy to operate. This reduces costs while still giving Dow access to the data.
